Welcome to the first season of Minelink Factions! As you may have already heard from @RagingDouche, starting this map we'll be using the season terminology to promote a more competitive spirit during the lifespan of the map. This isn't just for sounding cool, we actually plan on rewarding the top factions at the end of each season. Currently we are only looking at /f top, but in the future we hope to create a scoring system that better records a faction's competitive performance throughout the season. If you're in the top 5, you're definitely going to win something (alt factions don't count, sorry) As with all of our previous maps, this reset means that your inventories, enderchests, vaults, homes etc have been deleted. Of course you keep your mcMMO, credits and tokens as usual. Unlike our previous resets, you keep your old faction as long as you were a leader or coleader in the previous map. Even though you keep your faction, all your relationships and player invites have been deleted. The Map Like many of our previous maps, this season will consist of an overworld and a nether. The borders are the same as our previous map. To prevent giving x-rayers an early advantage, there are no natural mob spawners or structures in either world. The world borders are as follows: Overworld: 10k radius (20k x 20k) Nether: 2.5k radius (5k x 5k) With this new season, we'll be taking a new approach on the nether. We're aware of how much the nether is abused for creating hidden vaults. To put an end to that, we've disabled all building in the nether. You may only break blocks, which allows it to continue to be a useful source of lava. Since you can no longer build in the nether, claiming has also been disabled. TNT and other explosion damage has been disabled in order to allow people time to build their bases without fear of getting raided overnight. Explosion damage will be enabled on Friday 3/18 @ 8PM EST. Bigger WarZone WarZone radius in the overworld has been increased by 2 chunks compared to our previous map. While this isn't a huge increase, it does mean an extra pearl or two before your target reaches their trap base. New Koth Like all new maps, this one comes with a new Koth. Not only that, but this season we plan to switch up the Koth once every few weeks to keep it fresh. This new Koth is a bit special though so it deserves some special attention. Mainly, we've gotten rid of our old plugin and replaced it with a new, much better one. To keep things interesting, the capture time has been upped to 10 minutes. Koth still runs every hour, however, an active Koth can run infinitely until it is captured, unlike previous maps. Rewards are given out as chests that you can place and open. The Koth at spawn has the following possible rewards: 8-32 iron blocks (100% chance) 8-32 diamond blocks (100% chance) 8-32 gold blocks (100% chance) 1 beacon (5% chance) 1-3 hoppers (30% chance) 1-2 creeper eggs (3% chance) 1 creeper spawner (1% chance) 1 enderman spawner (1% chance) 1 pigman spawner (0.5% chance) 1 blaze spawner (1.5% chance) 1 common crate key (50% chance) 1 uncommon crate key (5% chance) 1 rare crate key (2% chance) 1 mythical crate key (0.5% chance) 1 legendary crate key (0.1% chance) It's possible to get one or more of these items from a single reward chest. Combat Pearling Most people agree that it's way too easy to get away with ender pearls especially when you can simply pearl endlessly until your timer wears off and just log out. To counter this, pearling in combat now resets your tag timer, forcing you to either confront your enemy or continue to pearl until you've completely escaped them. Goodbye, PVP Arena (again) We've gotten rid of the PVP Arena, again, this time due to a number of exploits that were more trouble than they're worth. For now we've decided to scrap it and we hope to have a custom coded replacement available in the near future with the ability to also run automated party-driven battles, such as 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 etc. Trusted Permission A new /f perm has been added called trusted. Using this permission it's possible to control which faction role or relationship is allowed to break beacons, mob spawners and hoppers in your faction's territory. This is a particularly useful permission for giving new members build access in faction land without the risk of them stealing your most valuable assets. Shaking Creepers For a long time, mcMMO's Fishing skill has had a passive ability called Shake that has a chance of activating when hooking an entity with a fishing rod. The higher your Fishing level, the greater the chance that Shake will activate when reeling the entity in. This season, you'll be glad you trained your Fishing skill. You can now shake Creepers for a chance to get Creeper Eggs. There's a 0.03% chance upon successful shake that you will get a Creeper Egg. Remember this only works when your Shake ability activates. Train your Fishing skill to increase your chance of Shake activation. 75% is currently the highest you can go (we are looking into raising this). Conserving TNT The /fill command has been slightly redesigned to accommodate a maximum cap argument that specifies the maximum number of TNT that a dispenser can have. If a dispenser in range has less than the specified cap, it will be filled in rotation with other dispensers one at a time until either the cap is reached or the TNT in your inventory is depleted. To specify a cap in your fill command, simply provide a number, like /fill 5. Vanilla Knockback Since many people seemed dissatisfied with the prevalence of knockback swords, we've decided to revert the knockback reduction back to vanilla settings. This means everyone is taking 15% more knockback than the previous map. Ingots to Blocks Just like there is a /gold command for converting nuggets to ingots, you can now use /block to convert ingots to blocks. Currently this only works for gold ingots, however, we could change this to affect iron, diamond and emeralds too, we just figured that it's only really useful for gold for selling purposes. Garbage Disposal There are times when you have garbage in your inventory that you just want to easily get rid of somehow without having to /ci your entire inventory. Now you can use /disposal to open a garbage inventory for dumping all your trash items. Moving Forward, What's Next? As many of you know, towards the end of last map, I was quite busy with moving into my new place that it took all my energy to deal with moving and getting settled that I was just not in a position to deploy any server updates such as new custom enchantments which I know a lot of you look forward to every week. Now that I'm in a better situation, all settled in, and back in the mood of things, RagingDouche and I are excited to keep the season alive and look forward to regularly deploying new updates and hosting competitive events. Keep an eye out for a regular dose of new custom enchantments, hosted events, new features such as /fly, team arenas and more! We hope you enjoy this season as much as we enjoy working on it.
