Greetings! As promised, the big announcement is here. Season 2 has more than run its course and it's time to prepare for the next season. (sorry, @Arden2) Season 2 Recap Before I get into any of that, I want to take a bit of time to run through some of the major events in season 2 which led to the map becoming stagnant pretty early on. Basically a combination of duping, creeper eggs and crate keys ruined the map early on and led to many complicit factions being punished. One of our staff members went rogue and decided to exploit a dupe which could only be exploited with a staff account and everything eventually spiraled out of control. Factions ended up duping wealth, crate keys and creeper eggs. Creeper eggs were a major source of the map's stagnation due to how easily accessible they were as a result of the duping. Duped crate keys were used to obtain even more wealth and creeper eggs, as well as a few ranks. When we found out what was going on, we did the best we could to do damage control and alleviate the situation, but the damage that was already done was enough to stagnate the map both economically and competitively. It didn't occur to me that a trusted staff member could be involved in any way and it led to me being negligent by not paying closer attention to their activities. I place a lot of trust in our staff, especially considering they go through a thorough vetting process, but this is one of those cases where that trust screwed us. All I can say at this point is that we're sorry for how season 2 turned out, and we genuinely appreciate everyone who roughed through it and played any way. We're committed to making this right in Season 3. Season 3 December 3, 2016 @ 1 PM EST (10 AM PST, 6 PM GMT) (countdown) To provide as fair of a reset day experience as possible, we've chosen to reset on a Saturday. Players in the US won't have school and the time is early enough for EU players to get in a few hours before calling it a night. The top 3 factions for season 3 (and season 2) will receive a reward of Buycraft coupons in the following amounts: $400 $200 $100 As usual, your inventories, enderchests, vaults, homes etc will be deleted. You keep your mcMMO, credits and tokens. 50% Reset Sale A 50% reset sale is in effect from now until New Year's Day (Jan 1, 2017). We now have a policy regarding Buycraft coupons and sales! Buycraft coupons can be claimed during a sale at a reduced amount based on the sale amount. If there's a 50% sale, you can claim a coupon for half of its original value during the sale, or you can wait until the sale is over and claim it for the full value. Any coupons that were claimed for their full value that go unused prior to a sale going into effect will have their value forcibly reduced based on the sale amount. This is to prevent abuse of this policy. Lastly, coupons older than 1 month since the claim date will be removed from our system and become invalid. You must use them or lose them. Worlds As usual, we'll have a semi-vanilla overworld and a nether with claiming and building disabled. For the uninformed, our semi-vanilla overworld is a vanilla-like map that excludes hill and mountain biomes, has flatter terrain with less trees and foliage. This results in a world that is ideal for base building and PVP, compared to vanilla biomes. Breaking with tradition, we'll also be adding an end world. Functionally, the end will be the same as the overworld, but smaller. It will be a flat world made of endstone with a surface level of 64 and a flat bedrock layer at the bottom. As many of you know, endstone is an overpowered way to grind mcMMO levels, as such we will be nerfing the amount of XP gained from endstone. The world borders for each of the worlds are as follows: Overworld: 10k Nether: 4k The End: 4k TNT will be disabled in the first week of the reset to give factions time to build their base. (countdown) WarZone WarZone claims at spawn will be 20 chunks around SafeZone. As usual, no faction is allowed more than a 4x4 chunk claim at WarZone. The size of the claims in any direction is non-negotiable. Any factions found violating this rule will have their excess claims forcibly removed with no regard to which claims are removed. Points-Based Leaderboard For a long time now, determining a top faction has always been a simple question of who has the most spawners, hoppers and beacons in their base. This essentially favored factions that spent all of their time either grinding wealth or raiding wealth. While this was a mostly accurate way of representing the top factions by their ability to grind or raid, it didn't give an opportunity for PVP-based factions to earn their spot as a top faction. Raiding is and always will be a big part of any cannoning-based factions server, however, it should not be the only defining quality of a top faction. With that said, in season 3 we will be adopting a points-based system that you may or may not have seen from a handful of other servers. Points are rewarded for the following reasons: Breaching a faction: Steal 25% of their points by breaching their core chunk Capturing the Alpha KotH: Worth 40 points Capturing the Beta KotH: Worth 300 points Capturing the Gamma KotH: Worth 200 points Wealth: The top 10 wealthiest factions will receive a points bonus every day #1 — 500 points #2 — 450 points #3 — 400 points #4 — 350 points #5 — 300 points #6 — 250 points #7 — 200 points #8 — 150 points #9 — 100 points #10 — 50 points This is only the current list of things that reward points. We plan on adding more ways to earn points over the course of the map. This will be an actively developed map with changes being rolled out regularly. Core Chunks A new type of mandatory faction claim called the Core Chunk will be implemented. The core has a purpose in the new points-based system and every faction will be required to claim their core before claiming any land. The core may only be unclaimed through /f unclaimall or /f disband commands. You may not move a core on your own, however, if the need does arise, you can contact @RagingDouche or me on the forums or in TS, or ask a staff member. The core chunk can affect your faction points in a couple different ways: Unclaiming the core chunk will reset all of your points. When another faction detonates TNT in your core chunk between the Y levels 100-250 from a distance of at least 32 blocks away, that faction will steal 25% of your points. A core can't be breached again for 12 hours after a successful breach. New Koth & Reward Changes In addition to Alpha and Beta, there will be a new Gamma koth catered towards those of you playing in EU timezones. The rewards will be slightly worse than Beta koth, but mostly similar. The updated Koth times and rewards are as follows: Alpha: Runs one hour after being captured. +40 Faction Points 2-8x Iron Blocks (100% chance) 2-4x Diamond Blocks (100% chance) 2-6x Gold Blocks (100% chance) 1x Hopper (10% chance) 1x Enderman Spawner (5% chance) Random cash between 5k to 20k (100% chance) 1x Common Crate Key (100% chance) 1x Uncommon Crate Key (20% chance) 1x Rare Crate Key (5% chance) Beta: Runs once a day at 6 PM EST (11 PM GMT) +300 Faction Points 4-32x Iron Blocks (100% chance) 4-16x Diamond Blocks (100% chance) 4-20x Gold Blocks (100% chance) 1x Beacon (10% chance) 1x Hopper (50% chance) 1x Creeper Spawner (20% chance) 1x Enderman Spawner (20% chance) 1x Pigman Spawner (10% chance) Random cash between 30k to 150k (100% chance) 1x Common Crate Key (100% chance) 1x Uncommon Crate Key (75% chance) 1x Rare Crate Key (50% chance) 1x Mythical Crate Key (10% chance) 1x Legendary Crate Key (5% chance) Gamma: Runs once a day at 11 AM EST (4 PM GMT) +200 Faction Points 4-32x Iron Blocks (100% chance) 4-16x Diamond Blocks (100% chance) 4-20x Gold Blocks (100% chance) 1x Beacon (5% chance) 1x Hopper (40% chance) 1x Creeper Spawner (15% chance) 1x Enderman Spawner (15% chance) 1x Pigman Spawner (5% chance) Random cash between 30k to 150k (100% chance) 1x Common Crate Key (100% chance) 1x Uncommon Crate Key (75% chance) 1x Rare Crate Key (50% chance) 1x Mythical Crate Key (10% chance) 1x Legendary Crate Key (5% chance) Claiming Restrictions As usual, you may not have more than 20 chunks of buffer claims. Buffer claims are extra claims that are not part of the wall of your main base structure. There must be at least a 5 chunk gap of wilderness between claims for it to not be considered a buffer. Unlike previous maps, this map will enforce a strict limit on the size of your main base structure. Your main base structure may not exceed more than 8 claims in any direction. Leftshooting & Nuking Nerf Thanks to the nerf, base building has become significantly more bearable than previous maps where leftshooting and nuking were unrestricted, Additionally, forcing cannons to go through all of your walls is a reasonable expectation. Due to this, we will be keeping the nerf in place. The biggest complaint with the nerf is that Schematica printing hasn't worked so well during season 2. We'll be focusing our efforts towards getting printer to work as best as we can under our anti-cheat to make cannoning more bearable. Damage & Knockback Armor Protection and knockback modifiers will be adjusted to settings that have been thoroughly tested and well-received by other PVP servers. We think you'll come to appreciate the new PVP experience that this change will bring. Custom Enchants Since knockback is being adjusted, we've decided to remove the Equilibrium enchantment. It was originally introduced as a way to make knockback more bearable but I think most people can agree that it wasn't as good as it should've been. A new enchantment called Harvester will be added. When applied to a hoe, the Harvester enchant allows the tool to be used to harvest crops like sugarcanes directly into your inventory without having to pick them up. No More Creeper Eggs Creeper Eggs have been the single biggest source of grief and despair in the past few maps. Quite frankly, I've decided that they're more trouble than they're worth. Creeper Eggs will no longer be a thing in season 3. Mob Stacking To alleviate server lag from thousands of active mob spawners, mobs will now spawn in stacks of 4, and nearby mobs will be merged into larger stacks. There is no limit on how large a stack can become, however, stacked mobs will despawn whenever a chunk is unloaded. Flight Permission As of the reset, the ability to fly in claims will no longer be restricted to ranks Hero and higher. The permission will be allowed to any rank Member+ and higher. I know, it's about damn time. Economy The economy will remain mostly the same. Hopper prices will be increased from 20k to 30k. In general, the rate at which you can obtain hoppers has been decreased, whether it's through koth rewards or buying from shop. Lottery Changes The lottery will be reconfigured to be infrequent with a high reward, instead of being frequent with a low reward. The lottery will be changed in the following ways: Duration: 1h -> 1d Ticket Cost: 2k -> 10k Max Tickets: 50 -> 10 Tax : 20% -> 10% Minings Spawners The spawner tax will be removed and mining spawners will now require the use of your fists. This takes practically an eternity to mine spawners, and while it's not the greatest solution, it is highly effective at preventing hundreds or thousands of spawners being taken down very quickly during a raid. An appropriate rank is still required to mine spawners! Tracking Play Time A new /ontime command will be added that allows you to track your play time in the season. This is mostly just for bragging rights and serves no other purpose. Your play time will be reset each season. Upcoming Events We plan to make this an eventful season. That includes a mix of staff run events as well as newly developed automated events to keep you busy and engaged. We wanted to have more automated events in place before the reset, but that would've just delayed it. We believe there's enough content to keep you engaged for a bit which will give us enough time to finish up the many other things we're actively working on! That's all I have to share for now. Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
